space! Compact, vertical design of the Berg Hydro-Man IV Manure
Conveyor needs less than 24-inches in diameter floor space for the plunger
unit, plus only 4.5 square feet for the power unit...much less space
than required for any other mechanical system.
Manure self-loads with gravity from
the hopper into the chamber. And, the massive weight of the plunger
works with gravity and hydraulic down-pressure to push large amounts of
manure quickly through the underground pipe into the storage area.
Friction and wear are minimized, because there's no weight on the seals. |
The Berg Hydro-Man IV Vertical
Manure Conveyor is engineered especially
for dairymen who are handling
heavier-bedded manure, but conveys slurry and
liquid manure equally well.
Can accommodate any manure system in any type barn!
Power enough to move manure efficiently up to
250'.

| Round, heavy-steel construction
of the chamber (A) and single elbow (B) is nearly indestructible.
Withstands more pressure and abuse than any other shape. Berg's hydraulic
drive (K) offers economy and dependability.
Massive, round, heavy steel plunger (C)
exerts no weight on its seals. As it moves through the wear ring
(D and below), compacted manure forms a tight, dense labyrinth-type self-seal
between the plunger and chamber wall.
A unique air-valve (E) relieves the vacuum
crated by the stroking motion. A manually operated pit stop (G) can be installed to control the back-flow of liquids.
A back-flow retarder in the cone (F and
below) keeps heavier-bedding manure from returning to the chamber.
The Berg hopper (H and below) is built with only one steeply-sloped surface
to eliminate bridging and reduce manure hang-up.

A special-built cement kit (J) provides an
accurate, effective seal between the barn cleaner gutter and the hopper
to keep solids out of the basement. Berg's ductile, cast-iron conveyor
pipe (M) is recommended for strong, manure-tight, corrosion-resistant
installations. |
